Fantastic talk (with slides) from Etsy engineer Dan McKinley about the failure of Infinite Scroll at Etsy, contrasted with their project to kill their Search Dropdown. Part of this talk is about validating design decisions. Most of this is about how to build a working process around short, incremental, measurable steps that can be validated quickly and ultimately lead to a big feature that will succeed.
